📌 Overview
The Gosaikunda Lake Trek is a spectacular journey into the high Himalayas, located within Langtang National Park.
The highlight of this trek is the sacred Gosaikunda Lake (4,381 m), a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhists. During full moon and the Janai Purnima festival in August, thousands of devotees visit the lake for religious rituals.
According to Hindu mythology, Gosaikunda is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. It is said that Shiva created the lake using his trident to quench his thirst after consuming poison during the Samudra Manthan.
The trek offers breathtaking views of Himalayan ranges including Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and even distant Annapurna peaks on clear days.
Along the trail, trekkers pass through alpine forests, traditional villages, and high ridges. The region also features several sacred lakes such as Bhairav Kunda, Saraswati Kunda, and Gosaikunda.
